I have chosen this project not just for a topic but for a true meaning on why. this topic had caught my eye when my teacher had given me the idea. As I was looking through the websites for the research I had noticed this was really big in the 1960's and I and I had always wondered myself why read us our rights when we already know them? turns out if you are not read the rights of the accused there is absolutely no case whether you admit the crimes committed or not. how awful is it to think about someone being able to walk this world knowing they had gone around kidnapping and raping and burglary. Knowing they are dangerous and someone who should be locked up. It would give him/her a chance to strike again. why should we allow that. the criminal needs to know that anything they do or say will and can be used in the court of law, basically giving them the right to speak or not. And the whole thing about the attorney is good to know, they need to know if they are unable to afford one they have someone that would be provided for them. Even though they are criminals they of course have the freedom of speech and if they refuse to talk before there lawyer has arrived they have the right to do so. I believe this is very eye opening for us citizens and cops to keep in mind they can non-intentionally let a criminal go if they are not causious enough.
